December 30, 2000 - Happy New Year everyone. We'll be gone tomorrow, so I thought I'd get this on here now. May the New Year bring everyone a lot of happiness and acomplishment.
December 27, 2000 - I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had a lot of fun at Nancy and Dave's last Saturday, opened gifts Christmas Eve, and spent Christmas day at Mary Ann's folks' home. Mary Ann and Heather even chatted with Zephen Christmas Eve via NetMeeting. It was good in that they were using the webcams so that they could see each other as they spoke. Zephen has started to put some weight on and has actually grown a few inches. I was called in to work yesterday, so I have way too many chores to do today. Fantasy Football is finally over. My team had a rematch with the team that beat me in our superbowl last week. I crushed him, of course, but there was no money involved this week. So, my final record is W15-L2. Because I was in the championship, I pay no money, but I don't win any either :( .
Less than days until Christmas!!!
December 25, 2000 -
Merry Christmas, everyone!!!
December 23, 2000 - Where did the year go? I have a nice long stretch off from work this coming week and am more than ready to relax a bit. Mary Ann's store is geared up for the crunch that last minute shopping brings. She works a half-day today and will have to work most of the day tomorrow (about 12 hours). We plan to go out to dinner with our friends, Nancy and Dave, today, and exchange some gifts. Heather has infected me with her enthusiasm, and I too am looking forward to Christmas day. Of course, I'm anxious to see Heather's and Mary Ann's faces light up as they open their gifts. Heather, in contrast, is anxious to OPEN the gifts :^) Both of them are getting some way cool stuff
December 20, 2000 - Christmas is almost here and Heather is more than ready. We went to Marla's for dinner on Tuesday and had a great time. We exchanged gifts and I think everyone loved what they received. Heather had gotten a very cool pair of pleather pants from my mom and a beautiful shirt from Marla and Dan. She was as close to heaven as she could get. The pots and pans my mom had gotten us are great as well and the grill pan and utensils Marla and Dan gave us will see lots of use. Thanks everyone!!
December 18, 2000 - My fantasy football team lost our Superbowl :^( . I completed the season with the best record at 14-2, but the second loss was when a win was the most important. Oh well, there's always next year. I worked the ER all weekend and it was pretty relaxed. Heather had her Choir performance last Wednesday and they did great (we are real proud of her). She is out for winter break this week and is anxious for next Monday to get here. She also wants to do her own web page and started working on that today. I'm going to help her as far as "how-to", but I'm leaving it to her to learn how to design it. I am really liking this cable Internet. I've been using NetMeeting with several people and have been video conferencing with them (they see me, I see them). I've also been doing a lot of long distance calls. I'm still fighting that bug, but the coughing is becoming less and less every day and hopefully I'll shake it soon. Mary Ann is still fighting it as well. We're going to Marla's Tuesday to exchange gifts before she heads to Fairbanks for Christmas. We're also planning to go out to our friends' (Nancy and Dave) house on Saturday and spending Christmas with Mary Ann's folks. We had two strong wind storms last week and I have to get outside today and clean up the mess. Our yard and driveway are covered with branches.
December 13, 2000 - I got the boxes out this morning. It feels pretty good to get that all done. I even finished shopping for Mary Ann. Heather and the school choir is performing this evening and we are all looking forward to that (I'll let you all know how it goes). My brother, Tim, sent me a real funny video on how real men catch salmon in Alaska and I have it here.
December 12, 2000 - WOOHOO!! I got most of the Christmas shopping done yesterday and today!! Mary Ann and I wrapped up a bunch of presents last night and now all I need to do is await one more package to arrive and I can mail everything out. Now comes the hard part ... I need to work on a Christmas letter and get the cards going. I've been running a blank on what to say ... I've had a hard time thinking straight the past week (cold, bronchitis, coughing all night). I'm feeling better, but I'm still run down and not getting enough sleep. When my mom visited at Thanksgiving, it got me thinking of old friends in Alaska, so I've been calling up the few I have numbers for. I talked to Susan Boehlke (Carboy) today and hope to call her again this weekend. Sue, it was nice to hear your voice and I'm still smiling and feeling good that I got to talk to you. I tried calling her brother, Steve, but all I've gotten is a busy signal for 2 days. I spoke with another friend in Anchorage, Kerry Walley, and he may venture down this way for a visit after the new year. Heather is still hoping for snow. The weather has been cold enough, but the forecast is to warm up and rain by the weekend.
December 10, 2000 - Boy, a rough week. Every night I've been up coughing. I made it through half a day at work Wednesday, all day Thursday, but finally had to call in for Friday. I've been tired and run down the whole week and am experiencing major sleep deprivation. I need to get my Christmas shopping done this week and get the boxes mailed. I should have quite a few things coming in the mail early this week that I need to wrap and ship as well. It's been pretty cold the past few days and Heather was so fired up for snow. We did get a sprinkling of snow this morning, but it melted as soon as it touched earth. I worked on the Christmas page and finally got it up today. Let me know what you think. It's playoff time for fantasy football, and I'm in the thick of it. I have the best record at W13-L1 and have the most total points by over 220, but my players have some tough match-ups this week and next. I'll hold my breath and hope I can win it. I have been very subdued about it all, knowing if I do any trash talking I'll most likely lose and be razzed about it later. I have a good chance to win, so wish me luck.
December 4, 2000 - Mary Ann's cold finally caught up to me this weekend. I took holiday for the last 6 hours of work yesterday, came home and promptly lost my voice. I don't feel too bad, just run down and achy. Hopefully, I can keep it in check. Mary Ann is feeling much better today. We started decorating the house last night and it is slowly coming together. I got the lights on the house and the tree this morning and am awaiting Mary Ann and Heather to come home to put the ornaments on. We have WAY too much Christmas stuff and have no where to put it all. Of the six bins of decorations, I think we'll only use half. I need to start shopping this week and plan to get some done tomorrow.
December 1, 2000 - I had just got home from work. I've been fighting Mary Ann's bug all day and feel pretty tired and run down. Hopefully, the cold won't get a foothold in me. Mary Ann went to the doctor today and is still feeling pretty bad. She had the day off and has tomorrow off as well, so she should be able to get some rest. I've been trying to come up with some ideas for my Christmas Web page this year, and I think you'll all like it. I'm going to start on it Monday and should have it up early next week.
