June 30, 2000 - I got some more pictures of our rafting trip from work today and updated the rafting page. Go take a look, okay.

June 29, 2000 - We just enjoyed a nice week of beautiful hot weather .... but, alas, things are changing for the 4th of July weekend, with overcasts skies and rain in the forecast. I took the kids to the beach yesterday and today, and even took them to the pool as well. All in all, we had a few good days. I purchased a new barebones computer and am slowly getting that to work. I've run into a few hitches and I think the motherboard may have a fault in it. I'm just going to work on it some more and keep my fingers crossed. I'm back to work tomorrow for the weekend and we plan to spend Independence Day at Nancy and Dave's house.

June 25, 2000 - One word can only describe our rafting adventure .... WOOHOO!!! The day was a little overcast initially, but as the morning wore on, it burned off and was beautiful. It was a 2.5 hour trip down the Wanatchee River, from Leavenworth to Cashmere, in the heart of central Washington. The water was cold, but I took the opportunity to get into it a lot. Most importantly, everyone had a wonderful time. If you want the whole story with pictures, visit my Wanatcher River Rafting Page.

June 22, 2000 - Bad news ... our friends, Nancy and Dave, won't be river rafting with us :^( Dave severely twisted his ankle hiking last week. We have decided to take Heather, her friend, Elissa, and her mother, Barbara. Zephen will be canoeing with the boy scouts on Saturday and Mary Ann's brother, Ervin, is going to stay over the weekend. Sorry, Nancy and Dave, but we'll tell you all about it later. Mary Ann has to work Friday, so we'll head up to Leavenworth early Saturday morning. It's about a 2.5 hour drive, so we'll probably head up around 5:30 am and be on the river with the group around 9 am. We are so stoked to go !!!

June 20, 2000 - I picked up Mom and Tim last night at the airport and we stayed at Marla's overnight. None of us really had a lot of sleep last night, but we had a good day. I haven't seen Tim in about 2 to 3 years and it was great to spend some time with him again. We had a nice lunch along the water in Seattle and it seemed the day just flew by. Before I knew it, we were saying good-bye :^( I love you guys and it really meant a lot to me to spend what little time we had together. I really miss you all up there in Alaska. The boy scouts had a court of honor last night and Zephen earned his rank of Tenderfoot. For the most part, he did the requirements, but he did fudge the fitness part of it. Heather's dance recital went well ... unfortunately, I had to attend Zephen's court of honor, so I did not get to go. One of Mary Ann's friends went and gave a bouquet of flowers to Heather afterwards. She was really proud of the flowers and Mary Ann said she performed without a single misstep :^)

June 15, 2000 - Back to work tomorrow. I got some overtime in this week and have been pretty busy. I changed half the water in the saltwater aquarium today and got the yard cleaned up before the weekend. We have a busy Monday next week. Heather has a dance recital and Zephen has a Boy Scout Court of Honor. This is the final recital before summer break and Zephen is getting his Tenderfoot rank. Problem is ... they both happen at the same time. I've been slowly taking some weight off and have been exercising. I weighed in Tuesday at 213# (down from 220# 10 days earlier). That's quite a weight loss in a short time, but I did pig out and drank about 40 ounces of water before the initial weigh-in :^) The Teegardin Family Reunion is happening this weekend. I'm sorry I can't be there, but I hope everyone has a great time. Send me some pictures and I'll post them with whatever summary of the events anyone cares to give me. I would like to hear from someone.

June 10, 2000 - It's the weekend, baby!!! Sweeeeeeet!!! Man, this week was long. I was orienting my good buddy, Rob, at work this week ... getting him back in step with things. The curse of the emergency room still hangs over me, of course. He was with me for 8 hours yesterday without so much as a page from the ER. Less then 5 minutes after he handed me the pager ... it started. I was, naturally, busy the next 4 hours. I was talking with our computer guy at work, Mike, and he offered to give me a 15" monitor. He lives out in my area and after work, I stopped by his house and picked up a 15" Sony Trinitron monitor. The man is a garage sale guru and I was amazed at the amount of stuff he has collected over the years. The monitor was one of many that he really had no use for, but it appears to be in great shape. Thanks, Mike, I'll put it to good use. One of my my other workmates, Kip, has a reef tank at home and emailed me some pictures of his aquarium. I was so impressed, I had to post them here. The Fatboy Classic is in full swing at work. People are watching what they eat and exercising ... and bringing candies and cookies in for the other participants. I think its a little underhanded, but I didn't succumb - well, not much, anyhow - but I will get them back next week. I plan to bring in my infamous no-flour chocolate cake (chocolate, sugar, eggs and lots of BUTTER, about a 1000 calories per sliver) 8^) I've been doing good, but I am so hungry all the time.

June 7, 2000 - I've started watching what I eat and how much this week and am gearing myself up for the Fatboy Classic at work. I have a program called "Dietwatch" (www.dietwatch.com) that I've used in the past to help me keep track of what I'm doing and just started that up again. I'm encouraged by my previous success the last time I decided to loss weight and I'm confident I can win this thing. I think we have decided that the winner gets $100 in wine and a primerib dinner. But, no matter who wins, I think this is a good thing for all involved (we're all a bunch of pudges to begin with).

June 3, 2000 - Whoa!! A really hot, sunny day, and, alas, I had to work. My cold still lingers, but I am slowly feeling better. One more day of work and I have a few days off. An old workmate and friend, Rob Mortenson, returned to Harborview this week. He is orienting back to our hospital and at the end of next week, will return to Florida and bring his family here. Welcome back, Rob!! Several folks at work have started a winner-take-all Fatboy Classic. Several of us weighed in today and, on August 1, we will weigh in again. Whomever loses the greatest percentage of total weight is the winner. About 10-13 people are involved and it can end up being quite the little pot of gold. I've done this once before and am looking forward to the challenge. I'm starting at 220 # and I'm sure I can get to 195 # with a lot of exercise and dieting. Wish me luck. Mary Ann is still working out a way to get time off from work to do our raft trip in three weeks. I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to try to buff up the family tree this week and make those pages more user friendly. I know the Teegardin family reunion is in a few weeks and, although I'm not going, I would at least like to have it available and useful to the family by then.
