The information contained in the Teegardin Family Tree was compiled from data initially supplied from my brother, Steve, and my sister, Marla. I was able to develop two branches of my family tree from this data: the paternal tree all the way back to Christian Tegarden (1650-1702), my 7th great grandfather; and my maternal grandmother's paternal tree all the way back to Nicola Felice (1683-1716), my 7th great grandfather.
With the use of Broderbund Software's "Family Tree Maker, 6th Edition", and their website www.familytreemaker.com, I have expanded the family tree to about 1700 people and include several 15th generation great grandparents.
Here is a list of the Surnames related to me. I have also included several genealogy reports: The Descendants of Christian Tegarden , Descendants of Jan deBurggraef , Descendants of Peter Eriksson (Wyckoff) , Descendants of Derick Van Nydeck (Schenck) , Descendants of Matthys Jansen Laenen , Descendants of Jean Jan Monfoort , Descendants of Hendrick VanGulick , Descendants of Teunis Jansen VanPelt ,Descendants of Nicola Felice, and Descendants of Robert H. Teegardin . I highlighted the areas where the trees intersect in red and only the Tegarden tree has all the generations. The Felice tree has several date discrepancies but I no longer have the data to correct it.
If you are interested in seeing all that I have so far, please download the Family Archive Viewer Version 6.0 (10MB) or Family Tree Maker, 7th Edition Demo (32MB) and e-mail me with a request. I'll send you a zip file of what I got, but be aware, it is over 5 MB (uncompressed) and will be a lengthy download. The viewer will allow you to view the tree but not make any changes. The demo is fully functional for about 15 or 30 days. I would appreciate any assistance in getting names and birthdays correct.
Here are some additional pages that I gathered information from but haven't fully researched yet:
The Wyckoff House & Association was created to promote interest in Pieter Claesen Wyckoff,
his descendants, and in the Wyckoff House Museum located in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn, New York. The Association
also assembles, publishes and distributes materials and information relating to them.
The Wyckoff House was built about 1652 and occupied by Pieter and Grietje Wyckoff about 1655. It remained the home
of Wyckoff descendants for more than 250 years. Landmark #1 in New York City. Oldest house in New York State. National
Historic Landmark. In 1982, it was restored as a Living Museum to honor the Dutch presence in America.
When the English took over New Amsterdam (renaming it New York), they made all the Dutch take on surnames, which
had not been their custom. Our Dutch immigrant Pieter Claesen chose the name "Wyckoff." 99% of all Wyckoffs
(and various spellings) in the U.S. today are descendant of the same Dutch ancestor. The Wyckoff descendants have
banded together and saved the original Wyckoff house in Flatlands, New York City from being destroyed.
