Zephen

Zephen started the year on a good note. For the first time in 4 years, he had worked himself out of the special education behavior improvement program and was completely mainstreamed in school. We had made adjustments to his medications and actually weaned him off of Depakote.

As summer came to an end, he started 7th grade in Junior High School. He tried out and played 7th grade football and really enjoyed it. He looked forward to practice and the games but was unhappy that he wasn't "getting big".

Unfortunately, he had great difficulty adjusting to different classrooms, different teachers, the workload, and the social interaction with so many people. His behavior took a spill at school and at home and this fall has been a mighty struggle for all of us..

Zephen was recently placed back into a behavior improvement program at a different school and is adjusting well. He seems to do better with less stimulation and more individual guidance. Our hope is that he improves all his skills this winter and we'll keep our fingers crossed that he'll be ready to be mainstreamed next year. His attitude has improved as well.

Zephen dreams of learning to snowboard and hopefully we can afford to try it next year. He is planning to play football again next fall and may try out for track in the spring.
